Rick Hatton founded 10 Tanker Air Carier in 2002.  There he researched and led the four-year development of a retardant tank system for modified DC 10 aircraft. The creation of this modern jet powered aerial fire-fighting capability has had a dramatic impact on wildfire suppression efforts on hundreds of fires in more than fifteen states and four foreign countries.    Prior to 10 Tanker, Rick was the President of Cargo Conversions LLC  where he teamed with numerous leading aerospace manufacturers and maintenance providers to develop major modification supplemental type certificates. This has provided numerous aircraft owners, investors and commercial airlines with assistance in matters related to cargo aircraft. Prior to Cargo Conversion, Rick was an EVP at GATX Capital and the President of GATX Aircraft. Prior to GATX,  Rick was the EVP of  International Air Services Company and was the Vice President and Senior Industrial Engineer at The Flying Tiger Line.

Rick graduated from Yale University with a BS in Economics, a master’s in systems and aerospace management from USC  and a holds a MBA from the Wharton  School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Rick was a Marine Pilot flying F-4’s and a Forward Air Controller in Vietnam.
