Director of Donor & Community Engagement

Position Title: Director of Donor & Community Engagement  

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Department: Executive Leadership/ Resource Development

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: $75,000 – $90,000

Position Overview:

The Director of Donor Engagement will develop and implement effective fund development and marketing strategies to enhance individual giving and major gift cultivation for the Club. This role will focus on increasing the Club's visibility and making it a top choice for philanthropic giving in North Lake Tahoe, Truckee, and surrounding areas.

The Director will foster a culture of philanthropy, ensuring that the organization’s systems and procedures support fund development. Leading staff and volunteers, the Director will institutionalize philanthropy and fund development within the organization.

Key responsibilities include planning and coordinating strategies to develop new donors and contributions, stewarding current donors, and maintaining accountability and compliance standards. The role involves continuous participation in marketing, stewardship, and special events with an emphasis on public relations.

Requirements:

  • Highest personal integrity and professional standards.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional fundraising experience with proven results.
  • Experience in face-to-face solicitation, proposal writing, telephone solicitation, and direct mail.
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and development database management software.
  • Experience in marketing and public relations with strong regional connections.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Expertise in marketing, public relations, and presentation.
  • Project management skills.
  • Diplomacy and tact in interactions with donors, volunteers, and diverse groups.
  • Ability to maintain relationships with influential individuals.
  • Advanced experience in fundraising, business development, marketing, and communications.
  • Understanding of print material production, social media plans, and media relations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms.
  • Familiarity and experience with Donor Database.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Contributes as a member of the BGCNLT Executive Leadership Team.
  • Designs and implements individual giving strategies, including annual campaign, direct mailing and other campaigns
  • Identifies prospects and engages stakeholders in generating new relationships and contributions.
  • Assists in the identification and cultivation of potential major donors.
  • Builds the Club's corporate support base and strengthens existing relationships.
  • Organizes fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Coordinates and tracks donor relationships and stewardship, acknowledgment, and 

recognition.

  • Provides support and contributes to execution of fundraising events.

Additional Responsibilities:

Other duties as needed or assigned by the CEO.

Relationships:

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club staff and Board members when appropriate.

External: Maintain contact and establish relationships with Club donors, local agencies, foundations, businesses and community leaders.  

Environment & Work Conditions

  • Normal internal office environment with frequent interaction with youth.
  • Frequent internal contact with full and part-time employees throughout the organization.
  • External contact with corporations, board members, donors, businesses, non-profit organizations and public.
