Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience, starting range is $82,953-

$98,031, DOE.

Are you a mission-driven HR professional ready to lead, build, and manage every aspect of

HR in a dynamic nonprofit setting? Sierra Community House is seeking a hands-on

Human Resources Director to independently oversee all HR functions for our team of

approximately 50–60 dedicated employees and volunteers across California and Nevada.

This is a department-of-one leadership role—perfect for a self-starter who enjoys both

strategy and day-to-day operations, and thrives in an environment where their expertise

directly shapes workplace culture and organizational health.

   

About the Role

Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with senior leadership, the HR

Director will manage everything from benefits administration, compliance, and employee

relations to recruitment, performance management, and long-term workforce planning.

You’ll be the go-to person for all things HR—leading the work, making the

recommendations, and supporting a vibrant team committed to community impact.


Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, field of study open

• Minimum of 5+ years of progressive HR experience across multiple core HR

Functions

• Professional certification (e.g., SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) preferred

• Strong knowledge of CA and NV employment laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO, wage &

hour)

• Proven experience advising leadership on HR compliance and strategic planning

• Hands-on experience with HRIS, benefit platforms, and full-scope HR operations

• Exceptional communication skills, discretion, and emotional intelligence    Responsibilities Include

• Administering benefits and workers' compensation

• Managing all recruitment, onboarding, and employee records

• Supporting staff engagement and performance management

• Ensuring compliance with federal and state employment laws

• Developing policies and serving as a strategic advisor to leadership

• Maintaining HRIS, payroll and benefits integration, and reporting

To ensure the new hire meets the requirement standards of both the job position and the
