Sports & Leagues Coordinator, Kings Beach Clubhouse

Reports to: Site Manager, Kings Beach Clubhouse 

Days/Hours of Service: 40 hours per week Salary: $23.00 - $25.75per hour

JOB SUMMARY/PRIMARY FUNCTION:    

This position will report to the Kings Beach Clubhouse Manager and is responsible for ensuring children of all abilities have the opportunity to participate successfully in programs that promote health and wellness within the Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe (BGCNLT). The Sports & Leagues Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and operating athletics other programs that promote healthy lifestyles and build good character and leadership and for insuring environments are healthy, engaging, safe and educational.  This position will support members by promoting self-awareness, confidence, character and peer relationships through health, wellness and athletics programming. 


KEY ROLES: (Essential Job Responsibilities)

  • Maintain safety of children as a first priority.  Emphasize personal safety and emotional wellbeing with children, parents/caregivers and other program staff at all times.
  • Supervise the assigned program volunteers and part time staff in your area.
  • Develop and maintain public relations and marketing materials for programs.
  • Schedule all games and sporting events for every sport each season; communicate with coaches and organizations to plan for upcoming seasons.
  • Develop and enrich partnerships with other organizations 
  • Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities.  
  • Manage diverse programs including sports programs with small and large group activities.  Manage athletic events including the set-up and clean-up, ensuring that events are safe.
  • Arrange transportation for athletic participants in a timely manner.
  • By personal example, help interpret the quality of BGCNLT values to children, parents and staff. 
  • Must be a positive role model.
  • Use positive, constructive methods of behavior guidance/positive reinforcement and ensures that all staff does the same.  Resolve conflicts in a professional manner.
  • Communicate program information, issues and concerns as they occur.
  • Maintain and care for program area and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by KB Clubhouse Manager.


SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Must have a high school diploma/GED and experience working in the athletics field; bachelor’s degree in sports management, physical education or related field, preferred.
  • Proven ability to work with and understand the needs of children and be committed to working with participants and families from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Must be highly motivated, possess strong organizational skills and be willing to work as part of a team.  
  • Must have knowledge of and be committed to carrying out the BGCNLT program philosophy and goals.
  • Possess knowledge of effective behavior management methods; ability to delegate responsibilities and meet deadlines. 
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
  • Must have demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • General knowledge of computer usage and the ability to use e-mail, internet software and word processing and database software. 
  • Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Must consent to and pass fingerprinting and background check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. The employee may occasionally climb stairs or ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision. 


RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal:    Maintain close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information; seek input from all program staff. 

External:    Maintains contact with community groups, schools and youth serving organizations, parents and families with outside services to assist creating positive relationships and resolving problems and to publicize the Club.
